Phonics test (not a poll but still relevant)
In the recent NUT/ATL/NAHT survey the vast majority, 83% of respondents did not agree with the statutory implementation of the Year One Phonics Screening Check for all Year 1 pupils in England. They felt it was unnecessary and it was inappropriate for many children with special educational needs and for those with English as an additional language. There is little correlation between the results of the phonics check in Y1 and the judgements of children’s achievement in reading at the end of Year 2.
