Children's Rights
We think children have important developmental rights that are currently being ignored. These are the three main items from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by General Assembly Resolution 44/25 of 20 November 1989, entry into force 2 September 1990, in accordance with Article 49
Article 3
1. In all actions concerning children, whether undertaken by public or private social welfare institutions, courts of law, administrative authorities or legislative bodies, the best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration.
Article 29
1. States Parties agree that the education of the child shall be directed to:
(a) The development of the child’s personality, talents and mental and physical abilities to their fullest potential;
Article 31
1. Every child and young person has the right to rest, play and leisure.
2. Governments must promote children’s and young people’s involvement in the arts.
